Even though Kim’s smiling in this photo, my guess is that it’s more relief than anything. See, this was the final beer of last year’s epic(?) 40 Days, 40 Beers project, where Kim, Josh, Matt and I all vowed to drink a beer every day during Lent. It was a blast at the start; We actually had a reason to drink at lunch now! We didn’t just want to, we had to. Fast-forward 37 or so days, and we hardly wanted to look at a beer, much less each other. But we slogged through every single one of those brews, til all 160 were emptied, and, can now look back fondly at the stupid little stunt that we should never have been able to complete. Talking about it now, it was one of the most fun things we ever did.
We made it through.
I don’t know if there are exact parallels to be drawn between 40 Beers and our old job. All I know is, there were some really great times, followed by some tougher ones, and I guarantee you’ll look back fondly on the time you shared with your friends. Smile.
